Bath Time!

Over the summer we searched for a tub and finally decided on a Rubermade FG564200BLA 7.5 CU FT garden-cart.  It had a broken rim so we got it at a steal for $100!  Since summer the tub had been great at helping us keep a bunch of supplies organized, but we finally got around to modifying the tub the other day.  We used our multi-tool to cut off the handle, and a bastard file to smooth things out.  Using a toe touch drain kit and it was an easy hack.

New Dimensions

The inside of our tiny house is growing in new dimensions! See the progress made over the past week below.

We have a new stand for the miter saw, which makes sawing outside much easier (but still cold!):

First piece of wood being fastened for our first (and only) interior wall- separating the bathroom and kitchen:

And you can see the wall grow, it went up pretty quickly:

First half of the wall done, and me relaxing in the tub (I did do some work too, even though it doesn’t look like it):

Yay, wall done!

I was so excited to go through the new doorway:

With the wall frame up, we moved on to finishing the loft beams. We used a whey-based finish from Vermont Natural Coatings, to keep the wooden beams preserved (otherwise they’d just be rough and unfinished, and could absorb too much moisture, etc.):

Then we hung the loft beams, using our heavy duty hangers/brackets. Getting the placement of the beams just right was a challenge, so we had to accept that it may not be perfect- but it will work! And the beams look pretty nice:

Here’s our new sleeping loft, just without the floor:

Time to relax!
